The Black Box VR World

When you enter your private workout booth and slip on the comfortable VR headset, you are transported to the Black Box world. Through this magical portal, you will slip beyond the constraints of our lonely universe and join billions of other civilizations in the quest to mine Energy Elixir. Energy Elixir is the base of every atomic particle and it gives the multiverse its energy. The more Energy Elixir, the better every universe becomes for its citizens! So how do we get more?

The Universal Unity Council (UUC) discovered that this energy source was actually generated by the living beings in each universe. The harder they worked and the more effort they passionately gave to their families and communities, the more Energy Elixir would be created!

The UUC came together to find more ways to incentivize citizens to give even more effort in their daily lives. That’s when they created the Arenas.

The Arenas are large stadiums where beings from other universes come together to compete for glory in a brand new sport. This sport would motivate citizens to become stronger, leaner, and more physically fit as they give their all in epic battles against other teams.

The Arenas help generate massive amounts of Energy Elixir in every showdown. That extra energy has helped improve the world for all.

Unfortunately, some civilizations have opted not to be a part of it. It looks like a war is brewing over who the Energy Elixir really belongs to and how it should be divided.

It’s not safe to discuss this publicly. We’ll tell you everything when you get to the Black Box VR virtual training center. We’ve sent somebody to meet you there. Please hurry.

Basics Of Battle

Every workout battle is 30 minutes long. A countdown clock will start when the battle begins and when the time is up, the game is over and the athlete with the best score wins.

The Arena Layout

The battlefield is approximately the size of an American football field. On each end is a platform. You will be on one platform and your competitor will be on the other, across from the field from you.

In front of each platform, there is a Crystal. The goal of the game is to destroy your competitor’s Crystal before they destroy yours!

The battlefield is divided into two lanes. There is an Energy Elixir trough in the middle that keeps each side separated. In each lane, there is a Gate protecting each athlete’s Crystal.

Around the battlefield is the stadium where the crowd will watch from. Outside of the stadium, you’ll see buildings, flora, and vehicles from that Arena’s universe.

The Scoreboard

Above the battlefield is the scoreboard. On the scoreboard, you’ll see each team’s current score, the countdown clock showing how much time is left in this battle, the round number, and the Arena number.

Scoring

So how do you score points? It’s simple:

  1. Destroying a Gate gives you 500 points.
  2. Destroying a Crystal gives you 1000 points.

When one of the Crystals is destroyed (yours or your competitor’s), the round is over and the field resets for the next round. You will complete as many rounds as you can in the 30-minute battle.

Because there are two competitor Gates for you to destroy and one Crystal, you can score a maximum of 2000 points per round.

How to Attack and Defend https://www.blackbox-vr.com/guides/how-to-attack-and-defend/ Thu, 12 Nov 2020 20:48:02 +0000 https://www.blackbox-vr.com/?post_type=docs&p=10534 The post How to Attack and Defend appeared first on Black Box VR.

How to Attack and Defend

So how do you destroy their Crystal and how do you defend yours? There are five main components:

  1. Direct Damage Exercise Attacks
  2. Champions
  3. Powerups
  4. Towers
  5. Sidekicks

Let’s learn about each one…

Direct Damage Exercise Attacks

These are the most powerful weapons in your arsenal!  You will do actual resistance exercises to shoot projectiles out onto the field. The stronger you are and the harder you push, the more damage you will do.

There are six base exercise attacks. They are all compound exercises that when used together, work your entire body! Compound exercises are those that use multiple joints.  Unlike isolation exercises that use one joint, like Bicep Curls, these compound exercises are more efficient, more effective, and more likely to transfer to real-world functional fitness.

Chest Press (Fire Beam)

This fire element attack uses the chest press exercise to shoot fire beams. Every complete rep you do will shoot one fire beam. Every fire beam can hit one enemy or structure at a time.

Chest Press Exercise Video Guide:

The chest press exercise effectively works your chest, shoulders, and triceps.

Overhead Press (Meteor Strike)

The overhead press is another fire element attack, but this time you’ll launch red-hot meteors with every rep. The meteors explode on impact, damaging any unlucky bad guy in the area.

Overhead Press Exercise Video Guide:

The overhead press works your shoulders and triceps, improving your upper body aesthetics and strength.

Cable Squat (Ice Shard)

This Water element attack will send freezing cold ice shards out onto the battlefield. Each ice shard will hit one enemy at a time, doing massive damage with every rep.

Cable Squat Exercise Video Guide:

The cable squat works your powerful butt and leg muscles: glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves.

Cable Deadlift (Cold Fusion)

With every completed deadlift, you’ll shoot a blast of cold nuclear energy at your competitor. It explodes on impact, hurting all enemies in its wake.

Stiff Leg Cable Deadlift Exercise Video Guide:

The cable deadlift works your glutes, hamstrings, and calves to build and shape your lower body.

Standing Row (Lightning Bolt)

Shoot lightning bolts at one enemy at a time using the standing row exercise. This is an Air element attack.

Standing Row Exercise Video Guide:

Work your middle back, rear shoulders, biceps, and forearms with every set.

Lat Pulldown (Wind Blast)

Pull down with all your might to shoot blasts of hurricane-force winds from your platform. This Air element attack can hit any enemies in the area of impact.

Lat Pulldown Exercise Video Guide:

You’ll feel this exercise working your lats, biceps, and forearms!

How To Choose And Perform A Direct Damage Exercise Attack

To start an Exercise Attack, simply choose which exercise you want from the Exercise table. Use either hand to grab the orb you want and then put it into the exercise machine hopper.

Once it goes into the hopper, the machine will begin configuring for your selected exercise. The handles will move to the appropriate position and if the bench pad is needed, it will come out to the right spot. Be sure not to touch the machine or the bench pad while it’s moving.

When it’s ready, a message will come up in front of you letting you know.

If the bench pad is being used, you can adjust its height by using the Up and Down buttons on each side of the Activate button. It will remember your setting for next time for this exercise.

When you are ready to begin the exercise, hit the Activate button. That will make the handles visible and turn on the attack. If you do not hit Activate, your reps will not count!

For some exercises, you’ll face the machine. To keep the battlefield in front of you, the virtual platform will quickly rotate 180 degrees after you hit Activate. When you finish the exercise set, the virtual platform will rotate back to the original position.

Once the exercise has been activated, stand on the blue feet on the ground. Be sure to face the correct way based on which way the feet are shown.

Watch the exercise video to be sure you are doing the correct exercise with the correct form.

Grab the red handle with your right, red hand. Grab the blue handle with your left, blue hand. If you pick a handle up with the wrong hand, you’ll see an error message.

Perform each repetition slowly and with control. Maintain proper form to keep the reps firing. If you do the exercise incorrectly, the attack will not fire a projectile and you may see a message in front of you.

When you get tired and can no longer do reps with proper form, release the handles and the set will be completed. The goal is to push hard enough to force your body to change, but not so hard that you pull a muscle. Try to get as many good form reps as you can with every set! The more you do, the more damage you will do out on the field, and the closer you will be to winning the round.

There is a maximum of 25 reps per set for Basic and Supercharged mode, and a maximum of 20 reps in Heavy mode. Once you complete the maximum number of reps, the set will automatically end and you’ll see a message telling you to put the handles down.

When your set is done, catch your breath, and then make your next strategic game decision based on what’s happening out on the field! The stronger you get, the more powerful you’ll be in the game, but you also need to be smart to make it to the top of the Arenas.

Light, Medium, And Heavy Modes

With every set, you’ll have the choice of Light, Medium, or Heavy. Before you begin your next set, make your selection on the exercise table.

  • Light mode is approximately 50% of the resistance that we believe you can handle for Heavy sets based on your previous performance. You’ll do 50% of the damage with every rep. It should be pretty easy for you to do 25 reps in one set.
  • Medium is approximately 75% of the Heavy weight and you’ll do 75% of the damage with every rep. You should be able to achieve around 15 – 20 reps per set.
  • Heavy mode is the resistance level that our machine learning modules have determined you should use to get the best fitness results. The goal is for you to be able to do 12 – 15 reps before your muscles get too tired to do more. You’ll do a full 100% damage with every rep.

For the first few minutes of battle, you can only use Light and Medium modes. This gives you a chance to do a few warm-up sets before moving on to the heavier sets later.

If you are tired or sore, you can always choose Light mode to give yourself a little break. You’ll do less damage and have a smaller chance of winning the battle, but you’ll still be effective. Also, if you just need to do a little damage to finish off an enemy attacker or destroy the last little bit of health in their Crystal, you can choose Light or Medium to keep from overexerting yourself early in battle.

We always recommend doing Heavy mode when you can. Our exercise programming is based on giving you the right intensity for the fastest results!  Don’t hold yourself back by taking it too easy. We know you’ve got it in you!

Supercharged and Hysterical Reps

To do the most damage to your competitor, you can use Supercharged and Hysterical reps to do more damage per shot.

Your first 10-12 reps per set will do 1x damage based on your Exercise Level (i.e. your actual body’s strength). If you keep doing more, your next few reps will do Supercharged 2x damage! If you can do around 15 reps, every additional rep will enter Hysterical mode and you’ll do 4x damage per rep!

  • Base: 1x damage per rep
  • Supercharged: 2x damage per rep
  • Hysterical: 4x damage per rep

You’ll be motivated to hit these zones with every set to help you win! It’s a lot more fun than just trying to do reps while sitting in a boring gym. Achieving Hysterical Mode is very difficult so it will take all of your determination.

Note: Supercharged mode is only available for Medium and Heavy sets. Hysterical mode is only available for Heavy sets.

Leveling Up Your Exercises

When you start your fitness journey at Black Box VR, you will begin with the lowest resistance level setting. It’s very light and you’ll have no problem doing any of the exercises at first. As you perform exercises, our machine learning system will monitor your progress and abilities. If it sees that you can handle more resistance, it will get heavier automatically for you! We are your AI personal trainer.

Over the first six sessions, we aim to get you to a point where you can do 12 – 15 reps per set for each exercise.  To get fitness results, you need to lift heavy enough to push your body to change, but not so heavy that you get injured. The resistance level is perfect when you can get 12 – 15 reps, but not another one.

Once you learn the game and get calibrated correctly, the goal will be to help you continue to get stronger and more powerful over the next few months and years. The machine learning system will continue to track every rep and every set that you do. At the end of each workout, it will calculate your new resistance levels based on how you have done recently. It can go down if we detect that you need it! It’s smart enough to know exactly what you need.

All of this means that the system is completely personalized to you!

Hero And Exercise Levels

You’ll be able to track your progress in the free companion app. You can see how your strength has changed over time for each exercise.

You’ll see your Exercise Level for each exercise as well. The higher the Exercise Level, the more damage you are doing per rep!  That means that the stronger you get in real life, the stronger you get in the game.

You’ll start at Exercise Level 1 and climb from there. You could get to a level 30+!

The average of all of your Exercise Levels is your Hero Level. Your Hero Level is your badge of honor showing your overall strength, power, endurance, and overall muscular balance. It’s an easy way to track your progress and compare to others.

Every exercise is assigned a specific Element based on the body parts that it works. See the full details in the Elements and Associated Body Parts section.

Champions

The second most powerful way to attack and defend is to deploy Champions. Strategically building your battle team and sending them to battle at the right time could be the difference between an epic victory and a disappointing loss! Let’s learn more about them.

Champions are part of your team. They are fighters that go out on the battlefield and brawl for you! Once you summon and then deploy them, they autonomously fight without you having to tell them what to do. Your job is to protect them with your Direct Damage Exercise Attacks!  You don’t want them to be left out there in battle alone, do you?

Champion Types

Every Champion has its own style, stats, and special abilities. A few of the main types are:

    • Tanks: Gigantic warriors with a lot of health!
    • Archers: Champions that can shoot arrows, fireballs, and more from a distance.
    • Melee: Scrappy fighters that use their fists, spears, and more in close range.
    • Flying: Winged Champions that can’t be touched by non-ranged fighters.
    • Horde: There’s two, three, four, or more of them all coming out at once!
    • Structure Destroyers: These ones ignore the other fighters and go straight for the Towers, Gates, and Crystals.
  • And more for you to discover!

How To Get Champions For Your Team

When you start at Black Box VR, you’ll have a few friends waiting for you. You’ll start with these three basic Champions to help you be successful in your first battle. Over your next few tutorial battles, you’ll get three more. These will have some special abilities that will come in handy. That’s six in total, giving you a full battle deck.

As you move up the Arenas and earn more XP, you’ll unlock more and more Champions. Champion cards are earned inside reward boxes. Once you get at least one card for a Champion, it will be unlocked and available for you to use in battle.

The higher you go, the more Champions you’ll be able to use!

How To Choose Champions For Battle

Before your workout battle, you can go into the companion app to see the Champions that you have unlocked. You can then choose which six you want to battle with. Making smart choices that give you a powerful and balanced team is an art and science!  Try different combinations to see what works and find ways to pair up Champions with complementary abilities.

How To Summon And Deploy Champions

So how do you send your Champions while you are in the heat of battle? It’s very simple.

First of all, look at the Champion table to see what’s available. Every Champion costs Energy Elixir to summon. You will start each round with 1800 points of Energy Elixir. Look near the Champion orb to see how much Elixir it will take. If you have enough, the orb will be full color and you’ll be able to pick it up. If not, it will be gray and you won’t be able to grab it.

Pick up the Champion orb that you want with one of your hands. Put the orb in the hopper on the front of your platform. Your Energy Elixir will be debited for the amount that this Champion costs.

At this point, a Slice and Punch pattern will come up in front of you. You’ll need to use your agility, balance, speed, and pattern recognition abilities to bring your Champion to life!

Slice through the cylinders with the appropriate hand. For example, slice through the red cylinders with your red hand and slice through the blue cylinders with your blue hand. Punch through the punch pads with the correct colored hands.

Every Champion has their own unique Slice and Punch pattern. You’ll memorize them soon and be able to summon your Champions quickly!  The faster you go, the sooner you can get your Champion out on the battlefield where they can help you win.

When you are done with the Slice and Punch pattern, you’ll hear a sound effect and the pattern will disappear. Now it’s time to decide where to place them.

With your right hand, point at the yellow area of the field. When you are pointing at the spot you want them to spawn at, hit the Deploy button with your other hand. Be sure you are pointing in the available area or it won’t work!

Once you deploy your Champion to battle, they will start fighting for you. They automatically move and fight so you don’t have to worry about controlling them.

Armor Bonuses

In Arena 2, you’ll be able to earn armor bonuses for your Champions by completing the Slice and Punch patterns within a short time period. If you can quickly slice and punch through the pattern with your speed, agility, and memory, your Champion will earn up to a 100% armor HP bonus! The bonus amount is based on how quickly you complete the pattern.

As an example, if you earn a 50% armor bonus and your Champion has 5000 base HP, you’ll get 2500 HP of armor. That means it will take 7500 HP of damage to destroy them!

When your Champion has armor, you’ll see an extra amount of HP in the armor area of their HP bars. You’ll also be able to see the amount of armor your enemy champions have earned.

Energy Elixir

Energy Elixir is the energy source of the multiverse! You’ll start each round with 1800 points of Energy Elixir. It’s used to deploy Champions to the battlefield. Each Champion costs a different amount of Elixir. You can have a maximum of 2400 points of Elixir at a time.

How To Get More Energy Elixir

Once you get low on Energy Elixir, you won’t be able to deploy any more Champions. You’ll get more by destroying enemy Champions! For example, if you destroy the enemy’s Aquafist, you’ll receive 250 points of Energy Elixir. That’s 50% of how much your competitor spent to deploy their Aquafist. You’ll get 50% of the Energy Elixir cost for every Champion you defeat. Also, you get 50 points of Energy Elixir for every enemy Minion you destroy!

Of course, that means that when your competitor destroys one of your fighters, they get more Elixir and will be able to use it to attack you. Be smart!

When a Crystal is destroyed and the round ends, your Energy Elixir is reset back to 1800 for the next round.

Champion Stats And Abilities

Every Champion comes from a different universe and has its own special properties. Understanding the differences between them all will help you to create the most strategic battle team.

Let’s look at each aspect:

  • Name: The name of the Champion.
  • Description: Summary of their abilities.
  • Level: The card level of the Champion. The higher the card level, the higher their HP and Damage!
  • Element Type: Fire, Air, or Water. Learn more about Elements.
  • Energy Elixir Cost: How much Elixir this Champion costs to summon and deploy in battle.
  • Rarity: Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Heroic. The higher the rarity, the less often you’ll find their cards in reward boxes.
  • Type: Ground or Flying.
  • Health: Amount of HP that they have.
  • Movement Speed: How fast can they move around the battlefield.
  • Range: How far away they can be from an enemy they are attacking.
  • Hit Speed: The amount of time between each attack.
  • Damage per Second: How much damage they can do on average per second.
  • Pattern Complexity: How long and difficult the Slice and Punch pattern.
  • Targets: What type of enemies and structures it can hit.

This is an example card from the app:
